After alleged involvement in drug scandal, Boxer Vijender Singh to do social-thriller film

Mumbai:  Olympic bronze-medalist Vijender Singh will be seen in a social thriller film backed by actor Akshay Kumar.

The film, titled 'Fugly', will be helmed by Kabir Sadanand. It will be produced by Akshay's Grazing Goat Pictures (owned by him and Ashvini Yardi).

"We have Vijender in our film. He was perfect for the role. He will go through acting workshops as well," Kabir told repoters.

The makers were in discussions about this project with Vijender, 27, since quite some time.

"It is a social thriller film with a message. The film will come out with a strong message," Sadanand said while refusing to divulge details about the issue that the film will highlight.

Besides Vijender, there will be other actors as well, but the director refused to talk about the star cast of the film.

"We have some actors in our wish list but we would not like to take any names," Kabir said.

The film will go on floors in August.

Besides this, Kabir is looking forward to his next film 'Golu Aur Pappu', an out-and-out comedy that stars Vir Das and Kunal Roy Kapoor of 'Delhi Belly' fame.

"The shooting is over. The film is in post production stage. We are looking for a release date," Kabir said.
